After studying the need for mental health services specifically for the Latino population, Grand Prairie Services launched the Nueva Vista program in 1994 which provides bilingual/bicultural services. Translated, Nueva Vista means "New View", as in an outlook on life. The name conveyed a positive expectation, built on Latino values. The service was tailored to meet the mental health needs of the ever increasing Latino population in the south suburban area.
Although the services are no longer known as Nueva Vista, the bilingual/bicultural services available at GPS provide individual, family, couples and group therapy, care management and psychiatric assessments, as well as sustaining care services for individuals living with chronic mental illness.
